I still have not shot the photographs of the galah or pelican that i need for my book, however i did manage to catch some shots of an egret at the local pond near the golf course.

That bird looks as if it really knows what it is doing.
I love birds and pics and I think you were very lucky to get a shot of the kookaburra for your banner.
I've taken shots of all the others in my time. (but not the white egret)

I have taken a LOT of bird pics but amongst the most rare/unusual would be the lyrebird and some of the pigeons 'indoors' such as the one where two pigeons came inside and sat on my dining table and ate my sons dinner! or the one where two came inside and started to romance in MY bedroom! That kookaburra is tame, I managed to get heaps of cool close up shots of it. It got to know us as a youngster, as a source of sausage n bacon rind!!
