Back yard update 7
October 12th 2009 14:13
Rain and stormy winds have kept me from doing much work in the yard for a while. I had begun to snip at the privet shrub - but had to stop as I was wondering about the possibility of nesting bul-buls. I had begun to edge the lawns, and completed most of the task. I had begun to weed the nasturtiums and plants along the side - but the weather then told me to stop work!
Looking at the yard, the bul-buls have been hovering about the privet rather too often for my pruning tasks' comfort. I do not think they already have a nest there - but they seem to be very interested in it - and I do not want to risk it just in case they do already have a nest!
It can be extremely difficult to work with such a busy yard! There are always some birds watching me or waiting for me to finish so they can relax and daydream on a tree branch, etc.
When I go into the yard, the pigeons are generally hanging about expectantly - taking my mind away from my tasks as they stare until seeds appear. The turtle doves also watch me hopefully, whenever they are not too occupied playing tail jumping games and romancing. If a magpie spots me, it will often fly down to our doorstep and start to warble, alerting my attention in case I missed it swooping down into the yard and scaring away the pigeons…
One day, I hope to actually get my gardening done!
