English birds

I do not yet have a home computer or internet service to be able to share any new photos, but I can connect to the WWW from the local library in the meantime to update you on the new environment and birdlife that I am experiencing in England.
My last few hours in Australia were spent hanging out with my friendly city flock of pigeons and my son. Smokey, Spotty, and White-Throat all flew in about half an hour before I left - as if they knew that I was leaving and wanted to wish me well on my jounrey. That was a precious moment...
On arrival in England, the first birds I encountered were a flock of pigeons on the train trip down from London to Sussex. When I entered my old childhood bedroom, I discovered an enormous tree to my left and overgrown rose shrub growing to the right of my window. These gave great opportunity to me to meet with the local garden birds.
I have taken a few photos, which I will share with you as soon as I have a home computer. I managed to photograph the resident pigeon - a huge wood pigeon. He sat in the tree outside my window and stared in at me...
I have also spotted the robin, several blue tits, great tits, sparrows, starlings, seagulls, a blackbird, and a few thrushes. that is quite a lot for the middle of winter, so I am hoping to collect an abundance of pictures and facts to share shortly. None of the birds are tame to me yet - but YET is not a permanant word!
