We have noticed a chaffinch frequenting the yard on a few occasions, though not this week. I have not seen once since my chioldhood, though my father says he has had one in the yard on rare occasions over the past decade.
The robin came onto my windowsill recently - itsaw me nibbling something inside and assumed the outside crumbs might be worth investigating - despite it being so close to a HUMAN!
The collared doves have been getting tamer - twice one has settled on my sill to rest after munching - um, and romancing it's partner in the tree near my window. It is nice for me when the birds trust me and come close - as this is something I miss from Australia, where many of them did.
When I am out walking, shopping, etc - I often meet up with birds that I do not see at my dad's home. Once, I spotted a flock of geese flying over the golf course - and on another occasion a heron standing on a rooftop.
The recent beak-filling of an adult blackbird means nesting season is underway - and yes, the jackdaws are building one in our very own chimney. The blackbird might already have young hidden siomewhere in the area, but the jackdaws have been pairiong up in their early morning flights and picking local chimneys. We have a pair breaking off twigs from trees and building in our chuimney - so do our next door neighbor, the house over the street, and the ones along a few doors, and...
