Not all of nature is pleasant…

Still on the subject of kookaburras, here is a very bad shot of the baby kookaburra with a dead mouse in his beak. He flew into the yard screeching and laughing with both parents in hot pursuit and paraded all over the carport roof with it before flying off. I never knew if he dropped it next door or actually figured out how to consume it… as he was screeching on next door's balcony for a short while afterward...
This brings back a memory from my childhood - when I first began to take an interest in birdlife. My Grandpa gave me a vinyl recording of bird sounds and my Mom and Dad subscribed to a bird magazine to help my interest - until Mom got upset seeing a an eagle eating a mouse or smaller bird - then she stopped the subscription.
Nature happens - however sad.
