Only two week's left…
November 24th 2009 14:46
As my passport arrived a week earlier than expected, I shall shortly be heading overseas. I will mildly miss the garden, lifestyle, and freedom of running my own home - but I will heavily miss my pigeon friends!
Shredding excess photos, turning out pleasant memories, and go to this or that place for the final time offer mild pangs I can rise above and ignore - but looking into Smokey's eyes, or seeing the way Speckley, White Throat, & Spotty trust me is a heart-wrencher. They do not have many friends that provide them with fresh water, healthy seed, and love…
However, even if I stayed until they passed, new pigeons would be born and loved and lose when I moved - and I am sure there are other people somewhere that regard pigeons as intelligent and friendly rather than feather 'n' poop bundles to scare away.
A few days ago, I thought I had 4-9 weeks left here, but all of a sudden, I have just 2 - that is not so very long when most of the time is spent organizing tickets, relocating my son, packing, cleaning, organizing…
On my final day, I shall tip out the entire tub of birdseed over the lawns as a farewell gift to my friends - even if I have to depart before they all come to visit.
UPDATE: I had JUST written up this blog to post tomorrow, when our plans collapsed. My son cannot move where he had hoped to, stranding him here with a rent he cannot afford unless I am also here to help him pay - so I have to stay through until mid-January, after all!
UPDATE: But then, I come online today and find he may be eligible to move there after all... so maybe I do only have two weeks left!
