PELICAN PICTURES
September 17th 2007 18:37
Finally, I have managed to take a few shots of those elusive pelicans! I had to take my walk on Saturday, instead of Sunday, and was not holding out much hope of actually locating a pelican close enough to photograph. However, as I crossed the street approaching the harbor, there was this 'shape' looking rather similar to a pelican perched upon a tyre…
Sure enough, on getting closer, there was my chance! A pair of pelicans, resting in the bay!
I got closer, and managed to take a few shots, though the light was not excellent.
The mischievous bird quickly hid its face, as if to say "Hey, you got a shot, now let me snooze, please" just as I got close to it.
When it realized I was going to hang around til it showed its nose again, it obliged and I managed to get the shot I wanted for my book!
Before it quickly turned away again and took its zzz… I left it in peace, grateful and happy.
It was my lucky day, because on my way home, I also encountered a group of galahs - the other birds I really wanted a photo of for my book! I will post some photos of them munching the grass at the beach later this week.

They're wonderful photos too. Great that you could catch them at sunset, the orange sky makes a great backdrop.
