Rain, rain, rain, sigh…

Along with a hectic workweek and personal disruptions, the weather has severely limited my time available to hang out with the birds in my yard. However, they do not seem to have visited as much lately, either. Whilst we still have the doves, starlings, mynas, and pigeons, most of the other birds have vanished or just flown overhead. Even the pigeons have stayed absent since my next door neighbor started banging a juice container on her wall to stop them settling on her windowsills.
The incessant rain, clouds, rain of the past few days has lessened the bird population of our home, just as I have completed my workweek a little in advance and am free to hang out for an hour or two.
However, I have managed to spend a few moments peering out the tearstained windows into the soggy, wet natural habitat, and I managed to spot our white-faced heron again. However, despite his being very close to the house, I did not get any photos. Firstly, being predominantly gray, he would not show up very well in cloudy wet weather, and secondly I did not want to move in case it startled him, with his being so close to the house.
I was able to witness him scratch under his wing, and bite and consume a few bugs as he strolled up and down the lawn by the side patches, though. I also spotted some galahs, ravens, and magpies fly overhead…
