As always, nature moves, changes, develops, and alters. Birds come and birds go, within our back yard. I thought I would offer a brief update on who is and who is not hanging around.
The magpies have recently been visiting a lot, and from the breaking up rather than instant consumption of cheese, I assume have young nearby. Whilst offering a few songful warblings, mostly call-for-food shrieks have greeted my ears. They like to make sure that I hear them!
Our friendly sparrow that bravely came to pinch a few seeds from the pigeons during their mealtime commotions has not been around lately. The friendly dove who sometimes approaches before the pigeons end their munchies now has a mate, whether romantically or family of feather only wise.
Dreamy has not been spotted as often lately. She was down to seeds last night, but not the previous two days. I saw her sitting in her regular meditative state on a nearby aerial yesterday, also. Perhaps she feels that is safer than pigeon infested yards with visiting magpies!
I have also spotted an ibis fly overhead, heard the kookaburras in the park across the street early in the mornings, and spotted a couple of black-faced cuckoo-shrikes 'rest and run' within our back yard.
