Seedy

Looking back through some old photos, I found one of my pet budgy. I recall having asked my mom and dad for a pet and being told to make a list of anything I thought suitable. I came up with along list of exotic creatures such as parrots, lizards, huge shaggy-haired dogs, Australian wombats…
Shortly afterward, a friend of mine got themselves a budgy and began to train it to play with a ring and to talk. Knowing the breeder, they were able to obtain a baby budgy for me when my parents thankfully agreed that it might be more suitable than anything on my list.
Seedy was so named from CD and bird seeds, and moved into my bedroom in his brand new cage. At the time, I did not think about Seedy’s as much as my own pleasure - but I did take care of him and he was a bright little spark - learning a total of 35 phrases throughout his fairly long life.
When I moved to train as a nurse, my parents agreed to take care of him - and again when I migrated overseas. Seedy was more missed than any of my rellies when I moved to Australia. Coming across some photos, I thought I would share these memories with you - as the only caged bird I ever had and my introduction to birds.
