The romance continued for a few days, and I finally managed to get some better pictures of our new pigeon, Spotty.
However, the day after taking them, she did not visit. Smokey was left looking for her, waiting impatiently and sadly…
Luckily, Spotty was spotted again the following day, yet still refusing to mix with the home-mob. She stood on the roof, following Smokey about, but ignoring his attempts to get her to come down and feed with his family.
On the single occasion that she did attempt this feat, after a brief meeting with the other members of the gang, she flew away, as if disgusted in her regal promptitude with their casual clumsy common manner.
Since then, both Smokey and Spotty have left our flock.
Smokey fell so in love that he moved out of his parental home to join with his new lover. Brief moments of concern over how they will find sufficient seeds in the wild, and the health of their diet if dependant upon tourist-snacks, fluttered past - but I know they both know where there is fresh water and ample seed if in desperate need.
