Some of my friends live in our yard, others visit it, still others live elsewhere and I visit them. Come and read about all my feathered friends...

The parrots in the trees

May 18th 2009 17:53
We had a newcomer to our yard, recently. Some sort of parrot. It must have been a youngster, as it did not have the bright coloring of most parrots, only a red patch on its chest and a bluish tinge to the rest. I spotted him up in the privet tree, whilst doing my washing up.

I managed to get a few photos, but not very close up. However, that is more than I can say for the rainbow lorikeets in the front yard. I heard their chattering presence as I went to clean the Yoga room, last week. Sure enough, our umbrella tree was filled with as many lorikeets as flowering branches. However, by the time I had considered fetching my camera, they had left my view and gone to the other side of the tree to feast.

Sandeye,

A special visitor indeed, so unusual. . in animal totem symbology to see a parrot suggests many good things and a few cautions, like being careful about when to speak and when to stay silent. Overall seeing a parrot out of the blue (and one with blue) is a very good omen and you are urged to pay attention to the thoughts that pop up in your head, as they may well give rise to you finally doing something you*ve always dreamed of doing. The timing may be right now.

A rare and beautiful discovery indeed!

Lucky you.

Lilla ..

Thank you. This is very interesting information. Do you refer to the totem symbology of the American Indians, or of a different culture? (That is the only culture I am aware of that has totem animals, but I am sure that many indiginous cultures must have something similar.)
