The tail of a crested pigeon

We do not have very many crested pigeons - aka whistling doves - visit us any longer. There has been one that sometimes pops down with the city and show-pigeons recently though. I tried to take a photograph - but -...
...managed to catch only the tail! Let's face it, that could be the tail from any creature - even a kangaroo!
Luckily the bird stayed around a little longer and I got one more shot. I TRIED to capture a good shot, but the bird kept scurrying about so fast, I could not aim properly. As you can see, even when I finally thought it had stood still, it hadn't...
Oh well, at least my heron photos came out properly. I shall share those in my next post, before you think there is a 3-year old operating the camera!!
For some reason, our crested pigeon friend has calmed down completely since the initial photo attempt and now sits serenly upon the lawn for long periods. I have therefore got a bunch more photos to share in upcoming posts. I have never heard of a bird that meditates before, but...
