Well, I did find a pelican...

Yesterday, I set out before dawn, to arrive at the harbor around 6am, for sunrise. I spotted a pelican floating serenely in the harbor, near to some fishing boats who were preparing to depart. I climbed down the steps to the boards, getting my camera ready. I managed to take the flash off, cut into double zoom, and aimed.
Unfortunately, this combination of no flash and double zoom, made the takes so slow, that the pelican came our blurry, as it was mobile during the shot. Next, I tried taking snaps with the flash on, but the coloring came out wrong. I tried a few more, walking up and down the harbor boards to follow it as it lead me a dance, back and forth. If only it had stayed still, I would have got a good shot.
I think I may have to go back next week and try again. Sometimes they will sit on a lamppost, or a harbor post, or even stay STILL in the water. I did have one piece of luck, however. On my way home, I passed the pond by the golf course. Whilst turning onto the track that passed the pond, I spotted this flash of bright blue. Diving into my purse for my camera, I managed to get three or four photographs of a fairy wren! I am not sure how these turned out, but if any of them were successful pictures, I will post them later this week! (I have not yet taken the pics off my camera.) There was nothing in the pond, save for two distant moorhens, so that was the end of my early morning photographic hike. I came home to a coffee in the yard, as the pigeons came down for their breakfast.
