Yard Bird Update 56 - sparrows
August 6th 2011 15:45
Sparrows - so tiny, but so sweet and friendly compared to many of the local birds. Here are several pictures I took in May of a pair of baby sparrows who used the tree outside of my bedroom window as a nursery. The parents left them there, hunted for food, fed them there...
There are still a few baby sparrows in the yard - and some have been taught to peck seeds from my windowsill by their parents - they don't fly away if I go near, although most of the adult sparrows do.
One adult had learned to trust me - but is still somewhat nervous. It will look in at me from a branch - if I put some seed on the sill it wont fly away as I open the window - but it wont fly down until I move away from the window. Oh well, it is a start....
